The Silk Road Online

The International Dunhuang Project is an attempt to catalogue, conserve and digitise as many artefacts from the Eastern Silk Road into one database. The stats are impressive: 6 countries, almost 80,000 entries containing over 168,000 images. The most being of manuscripts. Check out the scroll of The Story of Wu Zixu, for example, and see how well this has been designed. Not everything has been translated, but I imagine that’s the next step.
There’s an impressive list of organisations involved. I’m also impressed about how much background information is available, especially the technical info.
I plan to be entering a drawing into the Gallery of 1000 Buddhas.
