New Museum URBAN CHINA Soft Opening

There are pictures up of the soft opening of the URBAN CHINA: INFORMAL CITIES exhibition at the New Museum, New York. I’ve been fascinated by the objective to be “a physical manifestation of the magazine Urban China”. I think there’s a whole curatorial theory to be said on the idea of museums acting like magazines and curators taking on the role of editors-in-chief.
Would that make artists act like staff-writers? Objects become articles? No idea.
Can a museum develop an internationalist idea from an international magazine? Most definitely.
