The Mona Lisa is protected from those that would go see it, as are all objects a museum holds. So much so that the objects themselves can hardly be seen as they once existed in the "real" world. As the importance of the human gets diminished in this process, the curators role should be to "invite" the viewer, wholeheartedly, into the conversation, into the museum. Exhibitions could represent the outside world, without the baggage and hierarchy. Museums should be safe for humans.
