Culture/Economics

Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Culture Secretary Andy Burnham say culture has an important role to play in economic recovery.

“Regeneration led by culture and cultural projects can be the most successful and durable – unlocking investment and stimulating a new creative economy”

These comments came after a tour of Liverpool at the end of it tenure as Capital of Culture. Andy Burnham has been kicking around the idea of a “British Capital of Culture” recently. Doesn’t this undermine the European-ness of the current capital of culture?
